AEGEAN ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT AGENCY (AEGEA)

The Agency was established in 2008 as a nonprofit organization to support islands and local authorities on sustainable development. The Agency’s strategic target is to increase the islands’ capacity on renewable energy, energy efficiency, wastes & water management, rational use of local resources, preservation of cultural heritage and landscape. Furthermore, AEGEA is acting as the technical and political advisor of islands in their participation in European projects and networks (Pact of Islands, Smart Islands Initiative etc.) AEGEA is also an active member of the European organization FEDARENE.

DAFNI – NETWORK OF SUSTAINABLE GREEK ISLANDS

The Network of Sustainable Greek Islands- DAFNI is a non-profit organization established in 2006 that seeks to create opportunities and support initiatives towards the sustainable development of Greek islands through the promotion of integrated, innovative and smart solutions in the fields of renewable energy and energy efficiency, sustainable transport and mobility, sustainable waste and water management. Members to DAFNI Network are island local and regional authorities. Currently DAFNI Network has 44 members, including the Regions of North and South Aegean, the Region of Ionian Islands, the Regional Union of Municipalities of the Ionian Islands and 40 island municipalities from both the Aegean and Ionian seas.
